In a week that saw a man predict The National Lottery result live on TV, I thought that I would also chance my arm- The results are as follows-

1-That our friends The Olympians would not turn up on time.
2-That I would be feilding at some stage for The Olympian.
3-Miguel would smash the first ball of his innings to the boundry.
4-Derrin and The Doc would be first in for tea
5-I shall leave my final prediction until later

The P's carrying over some injuries following last week's tour of Norfolk-

1- Duncan ( Hamstring )
2-Luke      (Back )
3-Horry   ( Back )
4-JC'S Volvo ( Rear )
5-The Doc ( Mental Health )

Having lost the toss and been put in to bat on a cold and windy afternoon, The Pretenders got off to a flying start with Miguel smashing the first ball of the match for four with me standing at extra cover for The Olympians ! How hard was this prediction lark !

Olly and Miguel set about the Olympian opening attack with some violent hitting and put on 29 before Olly played on for a duck !!

Miguel was joined by the swashbuckling Derrin and after some lusty hitting from the pair and having taken the score on to 81, Derrin holed out to a good catch in the deep. This gave the portly Australian time to add up his run tally for the season and to keep tabs on his rivals for his Pretender of the Year Award !

Tim joined Miguel, however the later was unable to get his leg over when attempting to pull and duly fell on to his own stumps !!

Horry and Tim M took the score over the hundred mark before Horry decided to remove their first slip's hands from his pocket with a cut to far.

Tour hero Super D fell for a duck - with his hamstring know doubt playing a part in his downfall ( Pint please Dunc ! )

With Tim now gone for a very solid 30 - JC was joined at the wicket by the former Scotland Under 12's International Mark ' The Doc ' Fellowes. The duo put on a shade under 70, giving The Doc a wagon wheel to talk about at tea that didn't have a wrapper on it !

The innings was brought to an end with some lusty blows from Harry, Ben Gladell ( Nephew of a Pretenders legend ) and Ian Lewis who was making his debut.

Tea ! Duncan having driven from the pitch to tea had caused me to lose my first prediction- But Derrin and The Doc were not to far behind !!

Following tea Olly warned me about opposition players who play in black kit, following chancing a second run once to a man wearing black trainers and being run out !! Would this come back to haunt him !

The Olympians got off to a slow but steady start and were on only on 22 when John was caught well by Miguel off the bowling of Doc. Duncan was also bowling well and restricting the run flow.

The Olympians number 3 wearing dark tracksuit bottoms had now arrived at the wicket and started to produce some fine powerful hitting. Harry Rateef was introduced in to the attack and having had some punishment from the left hander managed to get one to turn and dolly to slip where he was duly dropped by Olly ! Was Olly in my prediction leauge as well ?

95 were added with their number 3  bringing up his fifty with 7 boundries and the equal amount of chances-The most notable being by Miguel 'Iron hands' off the bowling of Horry.

A breakthrough was finally made when Horry had the dangerous but slow Peter LBW. The Olympians were now requiring a shade under 8 an over but some more big hitting from their number 3 Guy suddenly changed the complexion of the match.

11 year old Ben Gadell was introduced in to the attack and in his second over had James their captain caught brilliantly by his uncle ! !- Migul, by now bowlig from the other end also took a wicket but with only 39 runs now required for The Olympians to win, time was running out for The P'S.
This was surely now a Job for the man we call Super D, who replaced the young Gladell who had taken 2-24 in what had been a fine spell.

The Very Dangerous Ramiz, who had earlier in the season given our Blacksmith some of his own medicene was now at the crease with Guy. He proceeded to take 18 off a Duncan over. The only good news for Duncan was that there were no recycling bins in sight !
Miguel took another 2 wickets but with only 5 runs to win it looked a fairly hopeless cause. A Pretenders summit of captains met in the middle to decide who was going to bowl what we all believed would be the final over.

The job was given to Super D- Until we learnt that he had bowled out ! The Doc was not keen to bowl as he was attempting to protect his bowling figures from the rampaging Ramiz !

With the Olympians on 210-6 requiring only 5 to win, Doc was ordered by the captain to bowl a wicket maiden. The Doc, then produced the ball of the season in removing Ramiz- He followed this by bowling another Olympian and produced a double wicket maiden. It was vintage Doc and no rubber and pencil would be required today !!

It was now up to Miguel ! who produced wild scenes when he bowled thei number 10 without scoring ! They were now 9 down with only 4 to win !

Miguel then produced a straight low ball that would have probably hit all three that produced the loudest Pretenders appeal of the season. This was turned down by Peter who should surely have read one of his own leaflets that he had handed out before the start of play before coming out to umpire !!

All was not lost as Miguel bowled exactly the same delivery and this time it was to much for umpire Pete who raised his finger toward the now dark skys above ! This brought jubilant celebrations from The P'S who retired to the Durrant's bar for a drink or two !!

As for my final prediction - Frank wished us all well and said he liked Duncan !!! 3 out of 5 wasn't bad - Might by a lottery ticket next week !! Happy Days...
